The Ferguson Archives and Reading Room inside the museum houses many published and unpublished volumes. These are available to visitors during our regular hours or by appointment.

The Herman Brown Free Library is the local library in Burnet, Texas. They have a Genealogy and Local History Research Center that contains published Burnet County family histories, a surname file for the county, and oral histories relating to the Burnet County Sesquicentennial and World War II. They also have research aids and reference guides, books alphabetically by state and county, U.S. Census Indexes, yearbooks, microfilm, historical maps, and many web based resource.
The Burnet Bulletin is the local newspaper for Burnet, Texas. Archive copies of this paper are available digitally in two places. Small Town Papers, Inc. and has issues of the Bulletin from 1983, 1993, and 2001-2018 and access is free.

Newspaper Archive, requiring a paid subscription, has issues from 1874-1974. Issues are missing from 1875, 1877, most of the 1890s, 1899-1900, 1913-1919, half of 1921, and early 1958.
The Portal to Texas History is a digital online archive dedicated to Texas history with more than 2 million items. The free site was created by the University of North Texas. There are tons of useful items relating to Burnet County history including maps, Lampasas newspapers, yearbooks, photos, and so much more.
TXGenWeb is a free site with genealogical information about Burnet County and early families. Resources include some census, military, biographies, cemetery data and more.
Find a Grave is a well known hot spot for genealogical researchers. This free resource allows visitors to search cemeteries across the nation for their ancestor by cemetery name or individual name.
